Green Island Watersports
Seawalker Green Island is such a unique way to experience the Great Barrier Reef, and is perfect for non-swimmers or anyone who may be afriad of snorkelling or scuba diving as the helmet keeps your face dry, you can even wear your glasses! The only sea walk encounter of its kind in Australia, Seawalker @ Green Island is quick, easy, and there’s no need to learn how to use complicated equipment. No experience is needed. From Green Island you will be transferred to the Seawalker Australia Diving Support Vessel, anchored only 3 minutes offshore. From there you decend 4-5 metres down via ladder, accompanied by your Seawalker guides, to take your first steps underwater. Walk on the smooth, clean sand of the sea floor (not on an artificial pontoon) and be COMPLETELY SURROUNDED by colourful fish and coral. Lookout for Gavin the photo-bombing parrotfish! He is a cheeky fella and will ensure he is part of your experience!
There is nothing on earth quite like the experience of diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Swim through coral formations while keeping an eye out for sea turtles, reef sharks, clams and a wide variety of colorful fish that make the reef their home. Green Island offers the opportunity for both beginner and certified divers to experience exciting underwater adventures at specially selected dive sites, just a short boat trip offshore.
No experience is required to take a fully supervised introductory dive. Meet with professional and experienced instructors at the Dive Shop who will guide you through every aspect of your dive, allowing you to have the best experience ever. After your introductory diver briefing which takes about 30 minutes, you’ll gear-up and have a skills practice session in the island swimming pool with your instructor. Now you’re ready for your dive adventure! You’ll head down to the beach where you will board our dive tender for a short boat ride, about 7 minutes offshore, where you will experience scuba diving at one the Green Island dive sites.
For certified divers travel to one of Green Island's dive sites with an experienced dive guide to ensure maximum enjoyment, safety and guide you to the best locations. Proof of certification and C-card/log book is required. Certified diving is subject to availability on the day of travel.
Boat Snorkel Trip
For snorkellers who would like to see much more of the reef and marine life diversity, take a short boat trip to one of the best snorkelling sites about 1.5km offshore from Green Island. This adventure snorkel will allow you to experience more varieties of colourful marine life and coral gardens. A qualified lifeguard will be on hand to supervise and direct you to the best areas of the site.
